I want to buy a Lanseer and in doing research I’ve come across someone selling a ECT Lanseer. They specifically state that its not a Newfoundland. I saw pictures and it looks the same to me. Does anyone know the difference? I am having a hard time finding any info on the web.

ECT stands for European Continental Type and is a separate breed recognized only by the FCI. The differences are:
The ECT has much more white on them.
They are longer in the leg and not quite as heavy.
They do not have the calm Newfoundland temperament.
They are more active than the normal Newfie.
Some people claim that it’s not a separate breed, but the breeders claim it is. It actually has a long history.
