So I have a spanish water dog and she is not a puppy. She’s 9. I go to school around 7 am and my sister leaves for school at 7:30 am. My sister gets home at 12:15-12:30 pm. Is that too long for my dog to be home alone? I get home at like 3 pm. Except on the weekends I am home on Saterday and Sunday most of the time. And before and after I go to school I walk, play, and spend time with her. But I was wondering is being home alone from 7:30-12:30 too long? Thank you! :)

5 hours can be long, depends on the dog. For puppies it can be long, considering they need to be cared for and taken out to do their business more than adult dogs. Just make sure you have plenty of toys for her around the house! Maybe ones that have food inside to keep her interest. Since she is nearing..her last years(I don’t want to be rude), she will most likely be laying around the house and sleeping a lot as she gets older. Nine years is a lot for some breeds of dogs! As long as she’s healthy and exercised she should be fine!
