I would like like to know what the affection levels of a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever are. I heard they were kind of standoff-ish, what exactly does that mean? Do they like to be with you all the time like most dogs? Follow you around? Do they like to sit next to you on the couch if you let them? Do they like to be petted or cuddled with?

This website should be able to tell you what you want to know.
If you decide you don’t like the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, you can look on that site for a breed you do like. Or, you could always forget breed and go to your local shelter to pick a sweetheart. : ) If you don’t have a shelter nearby, go to petfinder.com. You can search by location, breed, age, etc.
Also, I believe standoffish means more with strangers, not necessarily with family. Retrievers are usually good breeds.
